Norway establishes green natural gas committee

Norway, a major exporter of natural gas to Europe, does not utilise gas for domestic purposes, but the government wants to change this to further the country's industrial and technological development, the Oil and Energy Ministry said in a statement.
"The goal is to strengthen Norway and Norway's technological sectors so that they can get a leading position in the development of (natural gas) technology," Oil and Energy Minister Olav Akselsen said in the statement.
The committee, whose members come from environment organisations, industry and science, is scheduled to present a report by March 1, 2002.
