"Ignalina will be in position to supply power for export after January 12, 2002...The exact export volumes (for January) will be set after the repair work in the nuclear power plant is completed," the company said in a statement.
Ignalina officials should decide on December 29 whether to close the first of Ignalina's two units for "prophylactic repair" for around 10 days, Gennady Negrivoda, the plant's techical director told Reuters.
Lietuvos Energija had planned to export 550 million kilowatt-hours (Kwh) of energy to Belarus and 260 million Kwh to Kaliningrad in January.
The company also said that the repairs at Ignalina will not affect power exports to Latvia and Estonia in January. It plans to export 150 million Kwh to Latvia and 15 million Kwh to Estonia next month.
