Sri Lanka to seek lower sulphur gas oil from February
Date: 24-Jan-02
Country: SINGAPORE
But unlike previous tenders when the company has usually requested gas oil of 0.9 percent sulphur, CPC's latest tender will seek 35,000 barrels of maximum 0.2 percent sulphur and 265,000 barrels of maximum 0.7 percent sulphur material.
The barrels were for delivery February 13-17 into Colombo, with offers to be submitted by January 29.
"We are starting to use lower sulphur material for environmental reasons and I think in future we will ask for more lower sulphur gas oil in our tenders," the source said.
CPC normally tenders at least twice a month to buy gas oil, which is used for power generation and transportation.
But CPC has not purchased any gas oil since mid-December due to a fall in domestic demand.
