Bush declares tornado-hit Maryland a disaster area
Date: 03-May-02
Country: USA
The tornado was the fiercest in Maryland's modern history, a monster storm that tossed cars around like toys, obliterated homes, ripped the roofs off stores, tore down power lines and uprooted large trees.
The White House said in a statement federal assistance could include disaster housing, grants and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses as well as other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the storm.
