Coal miner wants to build Australia power plant

PERTH - Griffin Group said yesterday it plans to build a coal-fired power station in Western Australia state at a cost of A$500 million and supplied with coal from its own collieries.
|
The 305-400 megawatt facility is to be developed along with a wind power generator and a project to boost fresh water supplies in the south west region of Australia's biggest state, the privately held company said.The power station would be situated on land owned by Griffin and would commence operation in about four years, with coal supplied from its nearby Ewington collieries, the company said.
