UK Energy Minister to meet MOD over wind turbines

The growth of wind power generation is crucial to the government's targets on boosting the use of renewable energy and curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
But the MOD says towering turbines can interfere with radar systems and cause problems for low flying jets.
"Safety comes above everything else but there are questions to be answered...I am due to meet ministers shortly to discuss this," Wilson said during a parliamentary debate on energy.
He said the MOD had recently blocked the construction of four offshore wind power projects, although he denied defence officials had imposed a blanket ban on such projects.
A spokesman for the MOD confirmed it had blocked wind power projects at Shell Flats and Southport off northern England.
