USA: July 11, 2002

HOUSTON - Cooper Cameron Corp. said this week that it had been sued by a resident of Houston over contamination of underground water.

The Houston-based maker of valves and other equipment for the oil and gas industry said that while chemical residue had been detected near one of its manufacturing sites, the water was "suitable for all uses except drinking water" and that local residents used a separate drinking water supplied by the city.

Cooper Cameron said it expected no material impact on its financial condition as a result of the lawsuit.
