Thai zoo asks police to probe death of baby hippo

The zoo said in a statement that the baby hippo, born to a 38-year-old female called Mali, died in the early hours of Monday after being bitten by adult hippos, which the zoo says were deliberately let into the compound to harm the baby.
"This cruel act by mean people to kill a loveable animal...was aimed at destroying the reputation of the zoo," the state-run Dusit Zoo said in the statement. "We are asking the police to find the culprits to be punished”
