German Environment Minister Juergen Trittin welcomed newspaper reports saying that supermarkets Aldi and Karstadt were preparing to accept the plans for deposits on non-returnable beer and soft drink cans from 2003, the German
ministry said in a statement.
Tomra shares were up 3.5 Norwegian crowns ($0.453) at 63.0 in heavy turnover at 1300 GMT, outperforming a 1.2 percent gain by the benchmark index of the Oslo bourse .
Tomra, which makes machines that accept beverage containers for recycling while repaying a deposit, could be a main beneficiary if Germany widens recycling.
Tomra shares have ranged this year from 91.5 crowns in
January to a low of 52.5 in May.
