Exxon, GE, Schlumberger invest $175 mln in project

The project, under which Exxon Mobil will invest $100 million, GE $50 million and Schlumberger $25 million, is the Stanford University Global Climate and Energy Project.
The alliance will involve Stanford engineers and scientists along with resources from GE, Exxon Mobil and other corporations, the companies said.
The project will accelerate the development of low greenhouse gas emission technologies, Exxon said, looking at advanced transportation systems and alternative, renewable energy sources.
