US military seeks fuel for Western US, Bahrain

The Defense Energy Support Center issued a tender calling for over 24 million barrels of jet fuel and 4.4 million barrels of diesel for bases in the Rockies, West Coast, and offshore locations in Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
It issued a separate tender calling for 607,000 barrels of jet fuel for delivery to Sitra, Bahrain.
Both tenders are considered routine annual solicitations and do not require urgent delivery schedules.
The solicitation for fuel to the Rockies and West Coast asks for just over 20 million barrels of JP8 fighter jet fuel, 4.3 million barrels of JP5 jet fuel - generally used on aircraft carriers - and up to 80,000 barrels of other jet fuel grades. It also calls for 4.4 million barrels of F76 grade marine diesel.
All the fuel is for delivery between Oct. 1, 2003, and Sept 30, 2004. The deadline for offers is April 30.
The solicitation for fuel to Bahrain asks for 607,000 barrels of A-1 grade jet fuel, for delivery to Sitra between June 1, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2003. The deadline for offers is April 8, the DESC said.
