China Solar Expects Conversion Efficiency to Improve
Date: 21-Mar-07
Country: CHINA
China Solar, whose efficiency measure starts off at 6 percent, specialises in thin-film photovoltaic technology, which uses little or even no silicon and could be an edge for the company amid tight supply of the material.
"Now we are targeting to improve that to 8 percent in the very near future," Eva Wong, a company vice president, told a Merrill Lynch technology conference in Taipei.
The company, which sells and installs solar power production equipment for partners in China, has said it expected profits to grow sharply in the fiscal year of 2007.
Solar equipment makers are expanding capacity to capitalise on growing demand. Taiwan's solar cell makers like Motech Industries Inc. and E-Ton Solar Tech Co. Ltd. plan to expand their capacity in China.
