Kazakhstan Fines Chevron Oil Venture Over Ecology

KAZAKHSTAN: October 4, 2007


ASTANA - Kazakh Ecology Minister Nurlan Iskakov said on Wednesday the government has imposed a US$609 million fine on the Chevron-led Tengizchevroil (TCO) oil venture over ecological and other violations.


"We have put forward a fine of 74.4 billion tenge or US$609 million," Iskakov told reporters in the capital Astana.
