Monsanto Receives Chinese Approval for Soybean Imports

NEW YORK - Monsanto Co, the leader in biotech crops, said on Thursday it has received regulatory approval in China to import Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans.


Monsanto noted that China's imports of soybeans accounted for about 38 percent of US soybean exports in 2007, making it the largest purchaser of the crop from the United States.

Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans have been approved as safe for food and feed in nine countries and regions, the company said in a statement. (Reporting by Euan Rocha)
