Chinese police take a child from a rescue boat in the flooded city of Shaoguan, Guangdong province, on August 8, 2002. Floods and landslides killed at least 47 people as violent rain storms pummelled the neighbouring province of Hunan this week, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
