SPAIN: November 21, 2002

Picture shows the rudder and propeller of the Bahamian-flagged Prestige Oil tanker sinking off the northwest Spanish coast.

The tanker laden with 70,000 tonnes of fuel oil split in two and sank, triggering what ecologists said could become one of the world's worst oil spills.

Picture taken on November 19, 2002.
