A man stands on a beach in Dongsha Island.


Taiwan's first marine national park set up in 2007 includes Dongsha Island, its atoll, and the surrounding waters, located at the northern area of South China Sea and are 444 kilometres (276 miles) from Taiwan's Kaohsiung city.
