Getting Too Much "Junk" Mail? |

Britons receive nearly 4 billion pieces of direct mail every year. About a third of this direct mail is thrown straight in the bin. Last year over 78,000 tonnes of it ended up in landfill. Whilst many people are happy to receive direct mail, this web site will show you what to do if you don’t. It will show you how to sign up free of charge to the ‘Mailing Preference Service’ – by doing this, you will be able to remove your name from up to 95% of direct mail lists in the UK. "Everyone has a choice about what comes in their letterbox and the Mailing Preference Service will allow people to do this," says Pat Cash, the Co-Founder of Planet Ark. "However, we also need to remember to recycle all of our unwanted post when we put our newspapers out for recycling."
